Paturau Farm House

Another remote-location project for Frank Byrne - Builders, this time at Paturau on the west coast of Golden Bay. A beautiful, coastal sheep-and-beef farm with rolling hills down to the sea. After the demolition of the old homestead, construction began on a new house in mid-August 2014 over the same footprint. The views over the river mouth and out to sea are stunning, an ideal spot for the farm manager and family to enjoy.

Extremes of weather for our Team have proven to be challenging. But once the floor was down, the frames and trusses were up in no time during the first week of September. The team is living on-site Monday to Friday in the comfort of their own motor homes and hope to spend their downtime enjoying the local kaimoana. October through to January saw the house really take shape. The sub-trades readying for the final push – painting, joinery, floor coverings influenced by personal requirements of the owner and farm manager. A modern and warm farmhouse in a great location completed!

Architectural work was local, with concept design by Rita Virtama, & working drawings by Simon Hunt - Architectural Design (BBSc, BArch)
